In recent years we are seeing the highest smoking cessation rates
that have been recorded in recent years. A recent study demonstrated the role of
e-cigarettes in this increasing disappearance of traditional cigarette use.
According to this study, we were able to find various information about e-cigarettes:
- There are currently 7.5 million regular users.
- 48.5 million Europeans have already tried electronic cigarettes.
- 32.2% of users admitted to have reduced their tobacco consumption by using e-cigarettes.
- 31% of e-cigarette users have quit smoking with these devices.
In summary, and according to data from the European Union, since the emergence of e-
cigarettes, there has been a positive impact on public health.
This study also sought to dispel the concerns that many people have about the possible dependence of non-smokers on electronic cigarettes. The data show that only conventional tobacco smokers opt for e-cigarettes
nicotine, although many claim to use it as a method of easing
addiction to the substance. However, only 0.09% of non-smokers surveyed
reported using nicotine daily.
The Eurobarometer survey results do not suggest that e-cigarettes
are creating a new generation of nicotine-dependent users, as regular use of e-cigarettes in people who have never smoked is rare and a very small proportion said e-cigarettes were the first tobacco-related
product they used.
We expect to continue to see an improvement in public health with the replacement of traditional
tobacco with e-cigarettes.
