The world of smoking has always been surrounded by controversy, since it has a lot to do with people's health, and that is something that always generates debate. While there is still the belief that electronic cigarettes are not much better than traditional tobacco cigarettes, on the other hand we find organizations such as the American Drug Administration (FDA), which has promoted a proposal in which they bet on the electronic cigarette as a star method to fight against smoking. This has been announced by the National Electronic Cigarette Association (ANCE) and the Union of Vape Promoters and Entrepreneurs (UPEV), which have described this gesture as a milestone achieved to normalize the image of the electronic cigarette in today's society.
The idea of the new FDA plan aims to normalize the view of the e-cigarette as the healthy alternative for people who want to smoke without putting their health at risk. FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb commented that with the new proposal they intend to "envision a world in which cigarettes no longer create addiction and in which adults who still need or want nicotine can obtain it from alternative, less harmful sources."
This initiative adds to that proposed by the UK Department of Health, which earlier this summer presented an anti-smoking plan in which it positioned the e-cigarette as a major tool in the fight against smoking, and even called for anti-smoking regulation laws to be revised to allow users to vape in offices, using numerous studies showing that there are no negative consequences for third parties in public settings, so the "passive smoking" effect is lost.
We are glad to see that more and more people and organizations are joining the vapear phenomenon, and we hope that in the not too distant future the electronic cigarette can be seen with the same naturalness with which society saw the traditional cigarette years ago.
